What Size Should I Purchase?

Confused about size?

Choosing the right size can sometimes be difficult because:

We all have our personal preferences regarding fit - tailored or loose or oversized?

The cut of the garment - should the seam be on top of the shoulder or dropped down the arm?  Is the top boxy or a-line?

Fabric characteristics - stretchy vs non-stretchy

Inconsistent sizing standards for ladies clothing

An area or part of your body differs from the clothing manufacturers' expectations and current fashion trends - (lol I tried to put this delicately) For me, this is my larger than average shoulders and upper arms.  I know I will probably need to size up for shirts.  Maybe you have an area like this, too.

Sizing Guide
One manufacturer:  Match Point USA
Two lines:  Match Point and La Fixsun
Two types of sizing: Missy and Women’s/Plus

What is the difference between Missy and Women’s/Plus sizing?  In general, Women’s and Plus sizing is more generous through the arms, shoulders, rear end, and thighs.

As you can see from the chart below, there is some overlap in sizes.

Do not be fooled by the size on the La Fixsun label!  The cut and measurements are Women’s Plus. Ideally, the La Fixsun labels would be 0X, 1X, 2X, 3X…. or even 0,1,2,3.

As you can see, the two brands overlap.  If you wear an extra large in the Match Point line, you will probably be able to wear a small or medium in La Fixsun.  Every body is different though - so please ask questions - I don't mind!
The best way to purchase is to go by actual garment measurements.  When I measure a blouse, I lay it on a flat surface and measure it straight across the bust line from underarm to underarm.  Then, I take this measurement and multiply it by two to get the entire circumference of the blouse.  This is the chest measurement.  This measurement is not the same thing as your bra size, since your bra band size is not the distance around the fullest part of your chest.
To determine your measurement for blouses, I recommend measuring a top that you already own that fits you the way you like.  To measure, lay the top on a flat surface and measure it straight across from underarm to underarm.  Multiply this number by two, and you have your measurement.
Since different styles are sometimes sized differently, you may need a size small in one style, but may need a medium in another.  You may also need to consider how closely that particular style is supposed to fit to achieve the look you would like.
If I do not have a measurement listed that you need, please ask!  I am happy to measure for you.
